Defending The General...ly mechanical.
I just listened to the episode on The Savage Age... which successfully peaked my interest, but that's beside my point.
Porter really doesn't like a certain (I think ill-named) Totem from the Bone Gnawer Revised Tribebook and I'd like to defend it.
The name comes from the car from The Dukes of Hazzard. I take that to be just a matter of the name, because, as a concept, it's so much more than that. It is a Totem that takes physical form for an entire Pack to physically interact with and to take part in shaping. This enables a Pack with a Totem that physically takes part in combat or can physically take part in other aspects of your Pack's devoted duties.
Bone Gnawers aren't just city people who deal with poverty. They are the downtrodden and the overlooked. A totem comprised of the overlooked value waiting to be seen is right in their line. They just named it in a joking way because Bone Gnawers can count on other Bone Gnawers to respect the Totem even with a joking name and can't expect non-Gnawers to respect the Totem regardless... or the other Tribes will do what they do when they do notice that the Bone Gnawers have something good and take it from them.
Leave the name aside and focus on how this enables Garou with any kind of mechanical ability an ability to make a Totem grow with them and to gain more abilities than just the Totemic empowerment.
Really, get creative. Retractable built in crossbows for talen bolts. Awakened sage smoke-screen to cause extra problems for wyrmtainted pursuers. Sunlight fetishes in the headlights in case you run into vampires.
What's more, there's no real need for the hour of work per day put in to be purely mechanical. Paint-job where the paint was mixed with awakened garlic to give it spiritual protection, upholstering the seats in the leather tanned from the cleansed hides of wyrmish foes to make just sitting in a reminder of glorious purpose.
This totem might need a new name. But it is filled with such potential.
