Objects of Power: Fetishes and Talens in a Werewolf Chronicle

The Face of Rage, 11-1999

by Kioma Winterwolf

Introduction

Since time immemorial, the Garou have used items of power – fetishes and talens – to assist their struggle against all who would harm their Mother, Gaia. The first instance of a fetish is still very much debated, but the story of Great Song of the Morning and her magic bowl of water is a common one around the fires of the Theurges.

Whatever the truth, the Garou now hold many fetishes of varying power and ability, physical objects containing a spirit bound inside, allowing it special powers otherwise unheard of. That flute played by the Galliard at the Moot may have more power than just that needed to make a jaunty tune. The mighty sword that Ahroun swings may bite deeper than it should, or may crackle with electricity as it strikes its target.

It more accurately reflects the history of female warriors of the…

I like the reframing. Too many players fall for that whole Get Ahroun thing, just because they want to smash stuff. Its so midless, this is a picture of someone who did some thinking into who the Fenrir are. Well done.
