Running an Abliphet

Hey hey,

First post so apologies if I'm asking a dumb question.

I'm running a game set in Detroit in the 90s and I'm planning to run an Abliphet focused story in an apartment building.

I've been reading up on them in Wyrm20 but I'm a little confused, the book describes the Abliphet as dwelling in attics or roofs (planning on having mine in a big ol' electrics and utilities room) but as a bane surely they don't manifest under normal circumstances, the book also talks about the way the Abliphets tentacles get into air vents and stuff but again if they are in the Umbra how does that work?

I know buildings can have an Umbral presence but an appartment building (even a relatively old one) is surely unlikely to be represented that way in the Umbra?

I am just curious at how y'all would run it and whether…

Discord Trouble

Nothing complicated but I can’t access the discord. Hitting the invite link doesn’t work. Takes me to the App Store. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks for writing in! We did a little test of our own and our guess is that maybe you accessed it on your phone but don't have the discord app? We also had Ghost set up a new account on a PC using the link, it worked just fine but it's worth noting that if you don't have the app on your computer it'll use a browser. So this is one of those things, that computer or mobile I personally recommend the app (I prefer the app because I have a bunch of windows open on the regular so I find it easier to have the app up too). We'll keep an eye out for your reply or your arrival on the server! Either way hope that helps.

Multi-Tribe Packs

What is the percentage of multi-tribe packs in your game. As I have ran Werewolf, I have used less and less multi-tribe packs. In my NYC setting, I would say 10 to 15%. That is taking the whole of the New York State region into account. Even multiple Tribe Septs in New York normally do not have mix packs.

For my games, it’s really a blend but balanced more towards mixed tribe packs and septs.

In short, it‘s set around immediate Bay Area San Francisco. There are five notable septs there in which are currently called “the 4G Network”. Two mixed Glass Walker Septs, one mixed Gnawer sept, Celeste and her CoG/Uktena mixed sept (the Western Eye) and an outlier Uktena only sept that refuses to open to the others. The other four are of course trying to upgrade the network to 5G But it’s a tricky political tribal issue at hand.

Pack wise, most of the packs in these septs have a lean towards one tribe save for a couple truly mixed packs. When a new cub emerges the bids start on which pack gets to claim them and the beseeching of elders starts. That said, there are some elders who don’t care as much and just decide for themselves who goes where. Celeste Snowtop values choice far more than this though and listens to cases of why certain Cubs would be best joining certain packs regardless of tribal leans.
