W5 Rewrite
So going to post my vision of a W5 rewrite. I'll try to keep it linear, but there will side notes and meandering. Just how my head works. It will be Garou centered but will make references too the fera and how they would be changed. Inspiration will be Cannon and Savage age. I still haven't read all the S.A. books though I own most of them. Also feel free to make suggestions on this to me. I'm as close to perfect as a human can be, but still make the occasionally make mistake. 😂 For the sake of simplicity all hominids will just be referred to as Human.
So in the beginning there was one tribe of Garou perhaps a early progenitor Canine. They would be as self aware and intelligent as humans are now, but have only their canine form. Once humans came onto the scene and the Garou at Gaia's behest, bred with them. A faction would split refusing to breed with human(proto Red Talons). As the human's spread the animals would lose their self awareness and intelligence (this could be the beginning of the Gauntlet lvl 1 or 2). Further angering the Proto Red Talons. since now their siblings would no longer be able to communicate with them at the same level. This would lead to fighting between Garou groups. Also the domestication of Canines would be the final straw for the Red Talons. Predators killing each other to protect territory is normal and natural. predators enslaving each other is wrong, Weaver madness. They would as the millennia pass start to breed with any pack living canines. Wolves, Painted Dog, Dingoes, Bush Dog, and Dhole. Those with Purebreed are closer to wolves then any other Canine species. Red Talons from the Indo/Eurasian land mass would have the oldest and purest Lineages of all Garou.
Perhaps this is were the more Pro human faction(the future Glass Walkers, Bunyip, Silent Striders, Stargazers) split and migrate away from the Eurasian north. A third faction(all the others) that is more balanced would get caught in between.
Over these centuries the factions would split more. The northern European Garou would start to split. Silver Fangs would embrace the leaders and heroes of the people we call Yamnaya as their Kinfolk. Preserving the lineages into the future. As the Yamnaya spread and intermixed with other peoples. The Silver Fangs became more obsessed with the purity of their lineages. These people are the ones that gave rise to the Indo/European languages and cultures. Possible even the roots to most of the religions in these areas (Jehovah, Jupiter, Zeus, Odin/Tyr/Wotan, ect.. are all versions of the same Skyfather https://youtu.be/RIfB1LI79OQ ).
The other Northern tribes (Fenris, Fianna, White Howlers) would remain as one tribe but would have Camps that would emulate the three tribes. Each camp would have it's own spiritual patron. Changing the nature of camps. These Camps would have Lineages(pure breed). Like the Fianna's Tuatha De Fionn.
A peace would be brokered with the implication of the Impergium and the start of the War of Rage. Limiting the numbers of Humans allowed to live. Gaia would bring back the spirits of slain cubs and make them a new Tribe. Who would call themselves the Children of Gaia.
A second Great migration of Garou would begin with those refusing to abide by this edict (future Uktena, Croatan, Wendigo). These like the Northern European tribe. Would break into 3 camps with their own Spirit patrons.
The White Howlers would still fall. The reason would be their Rage and thoughts of Glory, would lead them to think they could beat the Wyrm. This would be an even greater hit to the Fianna and Get of Fenris. Since it would be a third of their tribe gone.
Shadow Lords tribe would be born on the Asian steps. Among the Nomads and would spread out with them. They would be the remnants of the two other migrations. Coalescing into a new tribe. One that felt the Silver Fangs were weak and ineffectual. They would institute a new Impergium using their human kin to control the human population. (Genghis Khan decreased atmosphere carbon by 700 million tonnes). A small faction would split to form the Hakken. *This was something I really feel the cannon books dropped the ball on. There is no better match up then the Shadow Lords, Genghis Khan and the step peoples.*
The last tribe to form up would be the Bone Gnawers. They would be the ronin and outcasts of the other tribes. Rat it's self would send out invitations to these Garou. To join as a tribe under his patronage.
The European Garou would still go to the Americas. The Eater of Souls would still show up the Croatan would still sacrifice themselves. Because their Honor and Stubbornness(focus on Willpower) wouldn't allow them to ask for help from their two brothers.
Same with Australia but the Bunyip would fall because they did not pay as much attention to the real world till it was too late. Concentrating on the Umbra/Dreamtime their Thylacine were push to near extinction by the Dingo before the Europeans ever arrived.
The rest of the Garou history would pretty much stay the same. Albrecht would meet Even in the early 2020s instead of the 90s.
The Fera
Bastet
Probably one of the favorites Changing breeds. Though again the cannon was unable to do a deep dive on Felids. It is WEREWOLF the apocalypse. Not Bastet the Meowing (that one is for you Porter). In cannon they had a "make believe" Felid for the Bubasti. Instead of using the Caracal or the Serval. But before they did that they should have made a bastet tribe for each of the Surviving separate Large(panthera) cat breeds first. So you would still have the Simba, Khan, Bageera, and Balam. You would also have one for the Ounce or Snow Leopard (Shameless plug one of my pet projects is creating this breed,it's on hold). Snow Leopards are actually closer related to tigers then leopards. That gives us 5 we need 4 more to make the magical #9. Nine lives, nine Tribes. Of those tribes left I would dump the either Bubasti or the Qualmi (seriously what sicko wants to talk in riddles all the time). The Savage age books of the various WereCats I love but in keeping with the 9 theme. I would probably combine some of these tribes into each other. Just have them as subtribes with in the larger Breed/Tribe. Ex. Simba and the Wlewa would be one tribe with 2 different bloodlines.
The Beast Courts.
Mostly i would keep them the same with a few changes. The Garou Stargazers, Hakken, and Boli Zouhiszi would all be a part of the of the Beast Courts from the beginning. Never being a part of the Western Concordant. The area that is part of the Beast Courts would be shrunk. Indonesia, the Philippines, and New Guinea would not be a part of the courts. Culturally they are closer to India then China or Japan. The Courts would be Japan, Korea, Taiwan and West Taiwan (China), and South East Asia. Mongolia would be an area of contention between East and West.
Nuwisha
Would be involved with the forming of the First Garou(Savage Age version) nation. Not directly though. They would have claimed to have been worried about how the Garou only charge at the enemy without thinking. They would have claimed to have taught them how to think out of the box. But, this would have back fired. They were the ones to teach the Garou how to be something other then Ahroun. Creating the first Garou Ragabash. Prior to this the Garou were only Ahrouns. This would encourage the Garou to create more by replacing the other Fera.
Bunyip
Would make their way to Australia slowly. After spending some time in the Beast Courts area. They would learn the value of cooperation with Fera during this time. Not wanting the rigid structure of the Courts and wanting to avoid their cousins. The Bunyip travel out into the islands seeking a land free from all Garou the the Courts. Once they land on Australia their was no canines. Only the few brought with their kinfolk. They had a grand Moot with the whole tribe. They consulted the spirits of the land and asked the Gumagan to join them. The Bunyip wanted to separate themselves from their Garou past and mandate. It was decided to bind themselves to a new animal kin. The Mokele suggested the Thylacine, the spirits made a new pact with the tribe. They would be bound to Australia, the surrounding islands and it's Dreamtime. Never to leave to other lands or realms. When the Garou nation found them again. They were shocked at the Bunyips betrayal of their nation and their ancient charge.
