Meta Plots!
Are you for Meta Plots or against them? I have spent a long time with various gaming groups and each has something to say about the idea of an overriding arch in a setting. I for one think they add some favor, but for the most part I don't touch them with a 50 foot pole. I just Feel that I may do it wrong by one player or by the wider community. I do not have a problem with introducing minor story elements from the world... say the war of rage in Egypt or the Fera fighting the Simba. I do tend to stay away from things like the metis child and how close the end times are. Anyway what are your thoughts on Meta Plots in general?

Well ALL of that's metaplot, be it the War of Rage, the Eye of the Wyrm, the Stargazers exodus Albricht, the coalition all of it. It's like I said the other day, as the story teller the world is your sandbox, but the Metaplot is the actual box. Even if you don't use official metaplot you're still using something. It's the boundries of the world. That said, that doesn't mean you have to participate in it. I keep my players far away from most of it. After all the game may be about the players, but the world does NOT revolve around them. But that said, what if one of the Sept's Kinfolk has a Garou child that was killed by the Skinner, for example. Sure you're free to ignore it, but you shouldn't, at least not all of it, there's cool shit out there which can inspire you one way or another. It's sort of like how you'll hear me say "you can't' just write whatever you want" what I mean by that is even if you throw out THEIR rules, you have to establish rules (if you don't there's no game) and once rules are established you have to abide by them. Now as far as "playing it wrong" I'm old school White Wolf, you can absolutely play it wrong lol
